Walk Worthy of the Sacrifice.

Hello friend,

How have you been? What has God been doing in you and for you?

I wanted to share something that has been on my mind. I have just finished studying the book of John, and what a spectacular book that is. It is only recently that I have started truly studying the word of God, before, I used to read but not really study (you know what I mean?), not seeking the wisdom of God (which James 1:5 suggests we should), and not inviting the Holy Spirit to give me revelation as I study. But now, I’m taking it more seriously. I’m now looking for God’s character in each chapter, because when you know His character, everything else flows together *as I am writing this, Holy Spirit just gave me a revelation of how this connects with Matthew 6:33 which says; But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.*  It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit works in us to bring us to a deeper understanding, and don’t you just love those moments when Holy Spirit adds things up for you in your mind and it feels like you’re seeing things for the first time and everything in that moment seems so clear and life is great? They are just the best…which brings me to what I wanted to chat about today.

But first, thank You Holy Spirit for those eye-opening moments! We love You and You’re so great at Your job!

Anyway, during my study of John 19:30, I had this incredible revelation that I just had to share with you. In the Amplified version it says; When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and [voluntarily] gave up His spirit. I will not lie to you and say that I instantaneously received the revelation right then, because I didn’t, no, that happened when I was listening to a Bible commentary from ‘Through the Word. As I was listening to Peyton Jones discuss John 19, it dawned on me that the Roman soldiers didn’t actually kill Jesus! Whoa! And immediately, I was like, “God, am I the only one who assumed that those guys murdered Jesus? Because this whole time I have been proclaiming that Jesus died for our sins (which is true of course), I never took the time to understand what that truly meant, because this was very different from murder, this was pure sacrifice.”

I know, I know, it’s probably obvious to most people, but it just clicked for me. And that’s a valid point, to which I say, I know what He did, but the how is what completely escaped me. I was telling God that, knowing the how has somehow made it mean even more to me. You see, no one, took His life on our behalf, no, He voluntarily gave up His Spirit. It felt like it was one of those light bulb moments(only that the lightbulb was the Holy Spirit’s revelation), He gave Himself up for me, for you, for us. The Amplified Bible says that He released His Spirit from His body in submission to God’s plan, no one forced Him, and He did it in His own time and His way.

I sincerely hope I am clearly articulating the magnitude of this revelation but I pray that Holy Spirit works in you to see what I mean.

It felt like the full picture of the journey to Calvary was being laid out so clearly before my eyes. And I was talking to God about how every time I read these chapters about what Jesus went through and the torture He endured, I feel guilty that went through all that for my sake..and each time, I feel Him telling me that it was worth it because it meant having a relationship. Voluntarily giving up His Spirit was worth it, because of me, because of you, because of us. What a love! What a thing it is to be loved by someone so selfless who wouldn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for me even despite me being in all kinds of sin that caused a separation between us.

It got me thinking about how much Jesus gave up for us and how we should intentionally live our lives to honor that sacrifice. He did it all for us out of pure love, and it’s something we should never take for granted. I hope this revelation inspires you to reflect on what Jesus’ sacrifice means to you and how you can live a life worthy of it.

To finish off, I wanted to share some resources with you that have been really helpful for me;

Anyway, I hope this message finds you well and that you’re doing amazing. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this revelation, please leave a comment down below or shoot me an email! Let’s catch up soon!
